The Sea in Orange

About the artwork

‘The Sea In Orange’ is a two layer perspex artwork measuring 140 cm x 90 cm.  Painted in oil based gloss, ‘The Sea in Orange’ is connected by 6 x 25mm chrome cylindrical fixings, leaving a 27mm gap between the wall and the individual layers of perspex.

About the Music

The artwork was painted to Morcheeba’s ‘The Sea’ off the album ‘Big Calm’, I have painted this music before and it always gives me a great result! The track has an ethereal tranquility to it, Skye Edwards vocals are as creamy and mellow as they always are, and Paul and Ross Godfrey’s musical composition is sublime with a mix that only they can achieve!

About Morcheeba

Formed in 1995, Morcheeba consisted of Paul Godfrey (DJ), Ross Godfrey on guitar and keyboards with Skye Edwards as vocalist fronting the band. Morcheeba have a chilled, funky groove drenched style, with hints of psychedelia and some sublime turntablism woven so well into the fabric of the music, that it just becomes as one with the whole of the sound. Probably classed under the ‘Trip Hop’ umbrella of musical styles, these guys really have their own style of eclectic sonic beauty.

About the Sea

The Sea is a track off Morcheeba’s 1998 album ‘Big Calm’. The album is stella and is really worth buying and listening too. While you are there, grab a copy of ‘Who Can you Trust’ as well , you will be thanking me for many years to come!

The Track The Sea

This video below features me painting ‘The Sea in Pink’, quite a bit bigger than the one I have just produced. I have included it in this page so you can hear the track. It starts with the track being played in the room but it then changes to the CD version, you will then be able to hear in at a decent quality. If you like it, go get the album, you wont be disappointed!
